The Aspire for Life Programme

The Aspire for Life programme consists of  2, twelve-week phases. Beyond 24 weeks, the Aspire Club offers support for those who want to stay connected to the programme. 

Phase 1
You start on your journey to better living by telling us about your current health, food and activity habits. As the weeks progress, your nutrition and physical activity knowledge grows as you read information provided weekly on the website and work closely with our dietitians, nutritionists and physical activity coaches to master your food and activity plans.  Self monitoring tools, such as the weight tracker, and access to the Aspire for Life discussion forum provide additional support to help you reach your goals.  A steady supply of easy and tasty recipes help hone your palate and develop your taste for the natural flavours of good, healthy food.

Phase 2
The focus shifts from building your new habits to sustaining them in the second 12 weeks.  Here we will help you deal with the inevitable challenges that life presents, such as weight fluctuations, social eating and the food blues. You also receive continued feedback on your food and activity plans from the Aspire team.  Access to even more delicious recipes and new modules on, for example, motivation, weight maintenance, and physical activity at any age, provide ongoing inspiration to maintain your healthy, new way of life.

Club membership
By the end of week 24, you will have gained most of the skills you need to manage your new way of life. However, a club membership is available at a reduced rate if you value ongoing access to the website’s content, Aspire professionals and other Aspire members.

  If weight management is your main reason for joining Aspire for Life, we advise a healthy and sustainable weight loss of about 4 to 6 kg over a 12-week period. As appealing as fast and dramatic weight loss may seem, gradual weight loss, achieved by developing new food and activity habits, will provide longer-term rewards. 

If your journey to a healthy body weight takes longer than the initial 12 weeks of Phase 1, you may want to consider continuing on with Phase 2 and possibly the club membership.  If however you feel confident in your new lifestyle and have achieved your Aspire goals, then you probably don’t need us any more.   Aspire aims to achieve self-sufficient graduates, not life-time members, so you be the one to decide!

Extending your Aspire for life membership is easy and flexible. You can opt for either the 12 week renewal membership or the 4 week renewal programme by selecting one of the following:
  
* 12-week auto-renew ($169) 
Of the two options, 12-week auto-renew provides the best value for money - you pay $15 less than renewing 3 times of 4 weeks.  When you extend your membership by twelve weeks to include Phase 2 of the programme, you receive:

• Two more diary reviews with both a dietitian/nutritionist and an activity coach.
• New newsletters and website content focused on the specific challenges people face when making permanent lifestyle changes.
• A modified food pyramid that adapts to your changing energy needs.  The Aspire pyramid recalculates the number of portions for your energy need with every weigh-in, so you can feel confident that your pyramid will continue to provide you with the right nutritional balance as you steadily reach your goals.   
• Continued access to all the online tools, forum and our professional staff.
  
* 4-week auto-renew ($69) 
If your prefer the flexibility of a shorter time commitment, then the 4 week auto-renew is the option for  you.  By choosing to auto-renew on a 4 weekly basis, you get exactly the same programme as the twelve week plan, at the same pace.
Please note:  food diary reviews happen on week 16 and 20, and activity diary reviews happen on week 18 and 22, so some 4 week blocks are busier than others.

Club membership ($18 for 4 weeks or $49 for 12 weeks)
 When you enroll for the Club membership at week 24, you receive:
• Continued access to advice from the Aspire professionals;
• Continued monitoring of your progress on the weight tracker;
• Access to familiar recipes, and revisit to earlier newsletters; and
• On-going membership of the Aspire for life community through the forum.

Please note:  that there are no further food or activity diary reviews beyond week 24.

Technical note: If your auto-renewal selection takes you beyond week 24 (as would happen, for example if you chose a 12 week renewal when you had been doing a series of 4 week renewals and had reached week 16), then the fee deducted will be a blend of programme fees up to week 24 then club fees beyond that.

On the first day of the renewal period, the fees are deducted from your credit card. If you selected an auto-renew option when you joined aspire for life, and then changed your mind, please cancel your auto-renew at least 2 days before the renewal period starts. Simply go to ‘your account’ at the top banner, select ‘membership’, followed by ‘setup your auto-renewal’ and select ‘none’ from the drop down box.

As of 6 Nov 2009, autorenew will not happen if you have not login to Aspire for 21 days or more, and your membership will end at completion.  If this happens and you wish to re-join the programme, login with your old username and password.  You will be guided through a payment process to renew your programme and continue from when your programme completes.
